LAB with Luanda Carneiro Jacoel
This work investigates the performative aspect of Afro-Brazilian traditional dances as a tool of creation. By using a symbolic organization of the body in those traditions the LAB intents to search for relations between movement and metaphorical images, mobilizing symbolic universes of the artist in his creative process.
The training is based on techniques of somatic education in which the performer experiences the wholeness of body systems increasing, body perception and awareness. We work with the territories of the body such as skin, skeletal, fluids and the senses all as mediators of the dialogue between: physicality, metaphors and symbols.
The tools of creation are: improvisation, composition and body perception. Different relationships between space, music, silence and objects will give bases for each creative trajectory, which is in constant renewing.
